Quanos in Times of Change

Repairing complex machines used to involve hours of painstaking work spent on troubleshooting. Today service technicians can find the problem in minutes, order the spare parts online, and have the whole system back up and running again thanks to digital instruction manuals. Quanos has been delivering the information solutions needed to make this a reality to service, aftersales, and technical documentation teams for over 30 years.

Quanos: Triple the expertise for smart information

In the 1980s and 90s, the developers in Fürth, Inning, and Nuremberg shared a common vision: to make data more useful for technical writing and service teams, thus freeing them from rigid editorial processes, spare part chaos, and outdated catalogs.

What began as a series of standalone solutions today forms the basis of a holistic software ecosystem, with which everyday processes run efficiently at more than 1,400 mechanical engineering firms around the world, unlocking sustainable growth.

At Quanos, 300 people are committed to combining our practical expertise from three decades and three divisions with the best technology on the market. Find out how we create the products that allow machine builders to harness the power of their smart information.

2023-2024: Together with machine and plant manufacturers in the age of AI

So that Quanos users always have the latest tools at their fingertips, we work with technology partners and strengthen the innovative spirit of our customers. AI functions are just the latest example of this promise.

  • July 2024 - Quanos Content Solutions GmbH and Quanos Service Solutions GmbH merge to form Quanos Solutions GmbH, a one-stop shop for software solutions.
  • May 2024 - Quanos Connect firmly establishes itself as the main trade event for technical writers, aftersales, and service. Guests enjoy detailed discussions with fellow industry professionals.
  • July 2023 - Quanos acquires plusmeta with support from Keensight Capital in order to develop AI functions. Applications such as automatic spare part identification significantly speed up service processes, especially when the sector is suffering from a shortage of skilled labor.

2020-2022: Quanos sets new standards for technical documentation and digital twins

In January 2020, SCHEMA, TID, and Docware form the Quanos Group. The expertise of all three data pioneers is brought closer together - as well as the products and departments of our customers.

  • November 2022 - The modular cloud solution Quanos InfoTwin becomes available to all Quanos customers and opens the door to predictive maintenance and new business models. With Quanos InfoTwin, machine manufacturers and operators can merge their product and situation-specific knowledge in aftersales and service into a digital information twin, giving them valuable insights into possible optimizations for their machines and systems in the field.

  • June 2022 - As the first joint event of the Quanos Group, Quanos Connect brings together over 700 customers, experts, and interested parties. Visitors are introduced to Quanos InfoTwin.

  • September 2021 - Quanos Content Solutions launches Quanos InfoCube, a new content delivery solution for more efficiency in technical writing offices. At the same time, SCHEMA ST4 is launched as a web application and brings documentation to the cloud.

  • August 2021 - Quanos Content Solutions and plusmeta become technology partners. Together, they develop an add-on for SCHEMA ST4 that allows users to assign metadata with AI support for the first time.

The beginnings 1987-2020: pioneers become partners

While the whole world is experiencing the Internet boom and thus a significant stage in the history of digitalization, three companies are also turning to digital technology for aftersales and documentation teams. Today, their products form the basis for efficient, error-free service and authoring processes for manufacturers and machine operators worldwide.

  • 2000s - Docware, SCHEMA, and TID Informatik drive forward technologies for service and authoring teams. Docware offers PARTS-PUBLISHER for digital spare parts catalogs, while TID Informatik has developed CATALOGCreator® for electronic spare parts catalogs and service information systems. They are now an integral part of the Quanos portfolio and form the basis for Quanos SIS.one. SCHEMA ST4 remains at the heart of professional authoring processes and has become an indispensable part of technical documentation workflows.

  • 1995 - A team of developers and documentation specialists found SCHEMA GmbH in Nuremberg. Their component content management system SCHEMA ST4 quickly establishes itself as the leading authoring tool - a standard that still applies today.

  • 1992 - TID Informatik GmbH is founded in Inning am Ammersee. It is a specialist in electronic spare parts catalogs and the management of service and spare parts information.

  • 1987 - The history of Quanos begins with the founding of Docware GmbH in Fürth, which specializes in digital solutions for spare parts catalogs.
