Spare part orders made easy

The CATALOGcreator® makes it possible. Owing to the user-friendliness and easy handling of the CATALOGcreator® software Messrs Mohrbach packaging machines GmbH were able to achieve a considerable reduction in customer queries regarding spare part orders and managed to increase spare parts turnover at the same time. Morbach packaging machines are employed worldwide. Mohrbach Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH with its registered office in the Palantine town of Rieschweiler belongs to the leading manufacturers of packaging machines for cardboard packages. The delivery range includes carton erectors, filling stations, carton sealers, carton lid machines as well as case packaging devices. Owing to their modular construction these machines can be equipped individually and adjusted to customer requirements. Mohrbach packaging machines stand for top quality and availability. Customers from various trades have successfully been using Mohrbach's packaging machines for years, i.e. in the food industry, pharmacy and cosmetic industry.

Initial situation

Prior to introducing the spare parts catalog software CATALOGcreator®, Morbach's spare parts
catalog was created manually using an Excel list. In future, based on a web application of CATALOGcreator® the customer should be able to find and order spare parts in no time. For ordering purposes the customer can use the internet.

Requirements

The creation of a spare parts catalog should preferably be automatic. The date for the object lists are taken from the „proAlpha“ system together with all article attributes and English translations. The 3D CAD - Data are converted directly from SolidWorks into the highly compressed XVL-format. It is also important to Mohrbach that catalogs can be generated for each customer order individually.

Solution

The 3D - models are immediately saved by the constructor  in the XVL-format following release by SolidWorks. The CC XML Data Converter of TID Informatik GmbH is started by proAlpha and "fed" with structured object lists. The Data Converter retrieves the XVL models assigned to individual building groups from a pool and passes the fully prepared information onto the CATALOGcreator® – Workbench. The Workbench merely serves to check the catalogs. Print-, CD- and Webexport are started by just pressing a button.

Experience and outlook

The organizational structure was improved and structures have become clearer in general. Due to the high level of automation of the electronic spare parts catalogue, as a result of CATALOGcreator®, much time and money is being saved. Since the navigation tree of CATALOGcreator® is similar to Windows Explorer, the customer will soon find his way around the known structures.
